You're Not a Believer?

Today we had baptisms at church. I was shocked to see a young man getting baptized. Why you ask. Well, here's the thing. The young man is the epitomy of Christian behavior. Kind, faithful husband, good father, hard worker, plays in the church orchestra, just ordained as deacon, always willing to help when you call on him --- you name it this man has the virtues of being a Christian. So today, when he was there getting baptized I just didn't believe he had never been baptized. I thought maybe he was switching from another faith, so I asked why he was getting baptized, he says, I never have been. Again, shocked. I truly felt maybe he was brought up in another faith and his wife brought him over to the Baptist faith.

So, then I thought what happens when we are baptized and people don't know we are Christians? I thought my friend had been baptized and was a Christian because of his actions. Do people look at me and think I am a Christian because of my actions? I know lots of people who claim to be Christians but their actions don't show it. However, it was just the opposite with this young man. He wasn't a Christian and acted the part. Funny-huh.

Well, I will be on the lookout now. For Christians, Christians who have been baptized and are walking the walk and talking the talk. This guy, this morning, it threw me for a loop
